As the SAARC countries explored the opportunity of hosting the 5th year in Sri Lanka due to the tremendous contribution made by the Sri Lanka College of Oncologists for the fight against cancer, we realized that it would be an important step for us to help strengthen the links with all regional forums by becoming the main sponsor. In future too we plan to continue focusing on such initiatives to increase the knowledge of professionals in this field.”
While the theme this year was based around ‘expanding horizons in cancer therapy and prevention’, the forum spearheaded by Prof. Gowri Shankar Bhattacharrya, a top Consultant Oncologist from Kolkata, India, revolved around the importance of self help and support, user involvement and psychological support for the patient and family to cope with their condition. An absolute meeting of the minds of not just SAARC country Oncologists, but of top minds from across the world, coming together to further a cause; “expanding horizons in cancer therapy and prevention”. The immense success of the pre-congress workshops, as well as the deliberations on different methods of treatment, was extremely successful and I believe they formed a basis for exchanging views to better understand and treat the illness. I am very pleased that PC Pharma was willing to come forward as the main sponsor for the inauguration ceremony event. They have been constant in their dedication to medication of cancer therapy and have made commendable efforts to further the field of Oncology”
Suppliers of Anti-cancer range of products are very few in Sri Lanka and PC Pharma’s entrance paved the way for a significant reduction in the pricing of Anti-cancer drugs.
